CREDENTIALS

Lynn Dalton, M.Ed., is a Dyslexia and Learning Specialist offering three services to K-12 students, college students and adults:

Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations for dyslexia, dysgraphia and other language-based learning disabilities

Advocacy for students and adults with Learning Disabilities, and

1:1 Orton Gillingham remediation instruction to address the learning needs of those with dyslexia. 

DIAGNOSTIC TESTING


Lynn brings more than a decade of experience conducting comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for learning disabilities. She obtained credentials in the diagnostic criteria for dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities through her M.Ed. in Learning Disabilities and Dyslexia.

K-12 students: Lynn’s diagnostic reports are widely accepted across New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts to help K–12 students qualify for special education services, develop effective IEPs, support admission to leading private schools for dyslexic students, such as Windward and Forman and to secure accommodations for standardized exams including the SAT, ACT, and AP Exams.

College/university students:  Lynn works with students to secure academic accommodations at their schools and to obtain testing accommodations for  professional standardized exams, including the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and others.


She has also successfully helped clients obtain bar exam accommodations in Connecticut by providing diagnostic testing and advocating for recommended accommodations.

ORTON GILLINGHAM REMEDIATION INSTRUCTION


Over 20 years providing K-12 reading and writing instruction using what is now called a “structured literacy” (multisensory) program and approach, as a K-6 Montesssori teacher and as an advanced trained OG instructor.

Orton Gillingham Certification was received from Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, OH whose program is endorsed by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) for Structured Literacy instruction and Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) certification. The program included Orton Gillingham training at both the basic skill level (preK-3rd grade) and advanced levels (4th grade- high school) with graduate level classes in Orton Gillingham and associated supervised 100 hour practicums.

Attended Orton Gillingham Associate Level training classes (75 hours in training hours) through the Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE) in NY and the Commonwealth Learning Center in MA.

Earned American Montessori Association (AMS) teacher certification for preK- 6th grade.

10+ years as a Montessori lead teacher for preK-6th grades, expanding upon and developing multisensory Montessory reading, writing and math materials and individualized lessons

6+ years developing curriculum and teaching High School Advanced Placement US History and economics and law electives, including at The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, NY and The Fieldston School in Riverdale, NY
